Meet Saumnya
Helping Families Navigate Special Education with Confidence
Hello, and welcome to Heart to Hart Student Advocacy & Consulting.
I'm Saumnya Hart, and for more than two decades, I have dedicated my career to serving students, supporting families, and helping schools create meaningful educational opportunities for children with disabilities. Throughout my journey as a teacher, campus administrator, and district leader, one truth has remained constant: parents are their child's greatest advocate.
I founded Heart to Hart because I saw firsthand how overwhelming the special education process can be. Many families leave ARD meetings feeling confused, unheard, or uncertain about the decisions being made for their child. I wanted to create a place where parents could receive knowledgeable, compassionate guidance from someone who understands both the educational system and the importance of family voice.
Today, my mission is simple—to help families feel informed, prepared, and empowered.
My Experience
My professional background spans more than 20 years in Texas public education, serving in roles that have allowed me to work alongside teachers, principals, district administrators, specialists, and, most importantly, families.
Throughout my career, I have:
- Served as a classroom teacher and campus administrator
- Led district-level special education programs
- Supported students with disabilities across multiple campuses
- Guided families through the ARD and IEP process
- Reviewed educational records, evaluations, and service plans
- Helped schools improve special education compliance and student outcomes
- Collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized educational supports
These experiences have given me an understanding of both the educational system and the challenges families face while navigating it.

My Philosophy
Every child deserves the opportunity to succeed.
Every parent deserves to understand their rights.
Every family deserves to be heard.
I believe the best educational decisions are made when families and schools work together with trust, respect, and a shared commitment to the child's success.
My role is to help families prepare, understand the process, communicate effectively, and advocate confidently so they can participate as equal members of their child's educational team.
